What are Dental Implants?

Missing teeth can cause a range of issues — difficulty eating and chewing, aesthetic problems caused by having gaps in the smile, or changes in the gums and bone resulting from surrounding teeth moving into the space created by a missing tooth, to name just to name a few.

Dental implants replace missing teeth and restore a strong, attractive and healthy looking smile that also enables you to eat your favourite foods without having to worry about false teeth.

Benefits of Orthondontic Treatment

Natural looking, healthy smile

Nothing is more natural than a healthy smile, but this is hard with large gaps. Implants will boost your self-confidence.

Fixed in place

Unlike dentures or false teeth, which are removable and not as strong as natural teeth, implants are fixed and permanent.

Durability and strength

With frequent check ups, regular brushing, and a good dental hygiene routine, implants will last for significant periods of time.

Safe, predictable procedure

Although having implants fitted is a surgical procedure, it is very safe and predictable, generally carried out under local anaesthetic.

Maintain speech clarity

Missing teeth can cause sagging cheeks, affecting your ability to speak clearly. Implants can help you speak with clarity again.

Enjoy food once more

Missing teeth can limit the foods you can eat. Dental implants help you bite, chew and digest properly once more.

How it Works

Initial Consultation

The first stage to having dental implants fitted is a consultation at Malvern Dental and Smile Design. At this meeting, we will undertake a comprehensive examination, including taking X-Rays, and together we will then formulate a personalised treatment plan.

First Treatment

At your first treatment session, the titanium post will be screwed in place so that the process of osseointegration (where the implant fuses with the jaw bone) can begin.

Second Appointment

At your second appointment, a small metal post is inserted into the implant, and an artificial tooth crown is then attached. If you are having implants to replace multiple missing teeth, a bridge or full arch may be attached to the implant.

Aftercare

Once you have dental implants in place, you are able to eat and chew food as normal, and maintain a regular oral health routine.

What aftercare is required after fitting dental implants?

Your aftercare requirements will be personalised depending on your specific circumstances, but there are some general instructions that will likely apply. You will likely need to: rinse your mouth regularly with warm salt water and keep it as clean as possible; avoid chewing food with the new implant for as long and as possible; and manage any swelling with painkillers and ice packs.

How much will it cost?

When it comes to the cost of your dental treatment, at Malvern Dental and Smile Design we are always as transparent as possible. We break down clearly all costs and charges for you, and help you to understand exactly how much you need to pay and when. We also offer payment plans, and accept all private health insurance providers.

That’s why we are happy to offer transparent pricing and a range of convenient payment plan options, and will always focus on providing high quality treatment and dental treatment above all. Contact us to find out more about our payment plans and other options.

Can you provide financial options for major dental treatment?

Our team can guide you through a range of flexible payment plan options depending on your needs and lifestyle. Get in touch and we will be happy to provide full details of the total costs, periodic breakdown and deposit required.
